The Website Log Manager

Once you have been through the upgrade process your account you will have an additional Session Log Allocation assigned. Then use the Website Log Manager to allocate this new log space to the websites specifying the amount that goes to each.

You can return to the website log manager at any point and change the allocation balance, including reducing the overall log allocation. WebVisitor.info is completely flexible in allowing you to choose the Upgrade Level you have at any point, so you can upgrade or downgrade your account with instant effect.

Example use of the Website Log Manager

The Website Log Manager is not a very complicated tool to use so to illustrate how you might use we have put together the following example:

1. You are a web-design company and want to use WebVisitor.info to provide website statistics for your home page and provide a branded login for you 10 of your clients. (For information on how to perform white-label branding see “Customisation” and to create logins for your clients so they can only see their website statistics, see “User Account Types”)
2. You have set WebVisitor.info with details of all the clients websites you wish to track all placed the tracking code their websites and also on your own. You have also put the details of 10 parked domains you happen to have and also updated their default pages with the tracking code.
3. You now upgraded your account and have acquired an additional Session Log space for 100,000 visitors, which is assigned to your account.
4. Each Website already has the 100 free Log Spaces so you probably don’t need to assign any additional space to the parked domains.
5. Most of your client websites receive between 500 and 1000 unique visitors a day so you decide to split the additional log allocation up equally between your website and your clients, giving them the ability to store detailed records for the last 10,000 visitors each.

You do this by typing 10,000 in to the New Log Allocation box next to each website in the Website Log Manager and pressing the “Allocate Logspace” button. This additional space is immediately assigned by WebVisitor.info.
6. After a month or so you realise that one of your clients websites is getting a lot more hits that the others so you decide to re-balance the allocated log space to give that client a bit more. You go back into the Website Log Manager and change the amount allocated to each website (excluding the one you want to increase) from 10,000 to 9,000. This gives you a spare 9,000 log entries. You then add this to the clients website given them a log allocation of 19,000 sessions.

Of course you could also upgrade your account to get more Session Log space as well but from this example hopefully you can see that WebVisitor.Info provides a really powerful and flexible way to manage website statistics and tracking data.
