Website Statistics Report: Visitors by Day of the Week
Overview
This website statistics report shows the volume of traffic to each of your tracked websites for each hour of the day. Website statistics data is shown in one of two ways, the number of page requests (hits) per hour and the number of Visitor Sessions per hour.
The report data is shown using a data table, a bar chart and a polar chart, an example of this is shown below:

This report is useful to determine the busy periods on each of the websites you are tracking, especially when used with the
Visitors by Day of the Week Report and can be used to help you make a number of informed decisions in regards to your website.
For example why are certain times of the day more popular for each of your tracked websites? Is it to do with geographical location, (use the
Visitors by Country, Visitors
by Country and City and Visitor World
map reports to help with this) or is it related to Content. For example is your website most popular at lunch-times? Knowing this can help you plan your marketing activities around these times.
This report is also useful when it comes to planning any site maintenance or updates that may require a period of down-time or slow server response times. Like the Visitors by Day of Week website statistics
report, this report will develop over time as more data is collected from your website highlighting any trends. Therefore it is worth checking back to this report every few weeks to see if what trends are emerging in your websites hour – by – hour traffic.
Report Options
As with most reports you can choose the date range that this report runs. There is also a printer friendly version which is available by clicking the icon in the top right of the report.
How this Report Works with the Log
Log size is very important to this report as each log record represents the data for one session. If your log is full you will be losing the oldest record with each new visitor so increase the log size to store more data and analyse trends further back in time.

Optimising your site for this Report
As with most reports you can choose the date period the report runs from and to. Use this to filter out any dates you don’t want included in the report data set.
